Profile

SAPSWU was formed in 2001/2002. Roughly 85% of workers in the private security industry are male. This is reflected in the union's membership. Most members are young school leavers, and they working mainly in companies such as Property Protection Management, Protea, G4Securicor and Risk Management Services.

Coverage

Worers in security around the mines in areas such as Secunda, with a small number of members drawn from retail.
